How to Borrow Art

Art is best when it is for the community and by the community.  Our paintings were created by Lorain county residents of all ages, races, ethnicities and abilities - - coming together during our free weekly art workshops to paint, create, and express themselves. Click below to find out more about how to borrow art from our community Art Library.

FAQs

  • As a unique offering in the region, Start With Art proudly presents the Art Library, where you can "check-out" beautiful paintings and portraits. These artworks are crafted by talented members of our community, and you have the opportunity to bring them into your life. Just click the collections buttons above to view the available paintings, add them to your cart, and check out to reserve your painting for pick up or delivery.

  • We charge a small weekly administrative fee of $5 - $10 for each painting (depending on the size), plus a $25 refundable deposit. We also charge $20 for delivery anywhere within Lorain county. In the event that a painting is damaged during your reservation, please inform us as soon as possible. Our team will assess the extent of the damage or staining, and you may be charged for any necessary repairs or replacements.

  • Reservations are made on a weekly basis.  You can reserve a painting for up to 12 weeks. Once reserved, paintings can be picked up on Wednesday evenings and returned the following Wednesday evening.  We can also deliver the paintings for an additional fee.

  • At this time, the paintings in this catalog are not for sale.  These pieces of art were created by individuals and - in some cases - teams of people who attend our Art Workshops to learn painting techniques and enjoy the company of other art fans in their community.  In some cases, the painters keep their artwork.  In other cases, they leave the art with the organizaiton so that we can share it at festivals and events, and in the Art Library

We are working to create a catalog of artwork that can be purchased in the near future.

  • Yes!  When you borrow a painting from The Art Library you can also rent an easel to display it.  Paintings can be hung on your wall or displayed in any way you like as long as no tapes or adhesives are applied to the back of the painting and no nails or fasteners are driven through the painting canvas.
